I try to only put Shell VMAX 100 in Tornado, my 500 iron barrel bullet.

I know there are differences in what is added to fuel by different oil companies and also by area, but what is the forums consensus on the best bullet fuel for south east England? Well, actually, maybe better to build a current picture for the country by areas (I know the south-west can be different.)?

More important and useful, what should we avoid like the plague (obviously ethanol and supermarket crap!)?

Should we start an updatable thread, "Recommended fuel for RE's"?

When I could still afford to fly light aircraft I used to run my (tuned)900ss Ducati with the 100 octane from the airfield (Biggin Hill). I always took a couple of jerry cans to use whenever I refilled the AA5A or 150 Cessna. Being a very high compression engine it was the only petrol that stopped the pinking.

Hi guys---------Hi AL EDDIE, I agree that 100 Octane rated fuel would definitely combat the pinking but I think you'll find that the Cessna 150 engine ( ie}---The Continental 0-200A ) had a CR of 7:1 ---- which is more of a a "Mid-range" value ( if our Bullets 6:1 be "Low" and a sports machine's 10:1 is "High"................. isn't there anything down there in Deb'n that you could "Borrow" to pep things up a bit ???---------------Image

Is there really any difference in supermarket petrol to that bought in other petrol stations? I buy most of my juice from the local co-op petrol station, purely out of convenience. Can't say I've ever noticed any difference no matter where I've refuelled. Have I just been lucky?

In answer to midge. The bike usually won't start, but has just died when riding along. A test of the plug against the head has an almost non-existent spark. A new plug has a big fat spark and when installed of i go again. Quite what is happening to the plug i do not know. ------------UPDATE-------- I think i have a bigger problem. Today when riding home from work the power seemed down and the vibration was higher than normal. So i dug out my compression tester. I was only getting 45psi. I repeated this a few times. No more than 45psi. After squirting some oil down the spark plug hole and re-doing the compression test i was getting 105psi. I guess i need a new piston and a re-bore? Advice please. I will start a new thread.
