Hi Steve

We meet again! Must be something about unusual forms of transport! Like you I got the impression that bullets were forever breaking down. My father in law (78 and still riding his '54 Triumph Thunderbird) poo poo'd the idea - a bullet had been his go to work bike. He was right. With a little consideration they go fine and I'm planning to do some touring on mine when I get back from my next cycle (as in pedal) trip.

Cheers

Hi Steve

When I got my Bullet 500 (2002 homemarket) it ran very poorly, and because of ignorance I spend a lot of time (and some money) spannering the first two years (went through two pistons, an exhaust valve ect). But once I had it sorted, it ran great, and have ever since. So its been troublefree the last 30000 km or so, and litteraly starts first kick (cold and hot - warm can be a little tricky).
Whereabouts in Denmark are you located. If we are close, you are welcome to try mine out, so you can see how good it can be.

Hi John,

Good to hear from you again.

How is your Enfield project coming along?

I already have the impression that the Enfield is like a Moto Guzzi. A bit tempremental until you have taken the time to sort the things out that everyone knows goes wrong. Once you have it sorted and just tweak it every now and again then it stays sorted. That is how my California is and it has never let me down.

Hi Dan, thanks for your kind offer. I am close to Haderslev. If you are ever passing the coffee is always on.

Hi Steve

Just back from the first 100 miler on my modified Bullet. I have taken a 2007 ES 500, added a five speed gearbox. (right shift, one down four up), Hitchcock's exhaust system, Monobloc carb and conical filter as well as a cover for the electrics. And I raised the gearing by one tooth. What a difference! Carburation is smooth and clean without the snuffs and sneezes I had on the original system. The gearbox is a big improvement. I suspect it alone makes a bigger contribution to faster progress than any other single tuning strategy. The bike now runs along comfortably at 55 - 60 without sounding overly busy and there is always the right gear to be had. It pulls the extra tooth with no bother.

You are right about the comparison with Guzzis' (The other love of my life) though my 2002 Cali was near faultless from the off.

Cheers

John

Hi Steve!
I think I've seen you over on the MG owners forum :-)

I have a V7 classic Guzzi and a 500 Bullet. If you fancy one go for it... I've had some problems with mine over 8 years and c25k km, but parts are cheap and overall they are fun to chuff about on. I've also recently ridden the new efi unit construction bike - also good - perhaps not quite such a character as the old iron barrel 4 speed.

btw That cardolino looks lovely.
