I fitted a pair of high intensity LED's into the casquet on my crossbred, got your attention during the day ok but at night they were so bright they completely dazzled me, couldn't see where I was going

Hi all ... It is possible to get LEDs which are not polarity sensitive (maybe Paul Goff has them), but I don't know how to install them in the indicator warning lights line. I have tried to swap most of the bulbs on my Bullet for LEDs. This includes indicator lights and all warning lights except the one for the indicators. I wasn't paying propoer attention to the polarity sensitivity of LEDs, so it didn't work and was a puzzle until I started to read about it. I have not yet come to do the change, so I can't really tell how to do it, just that it can be done (two leads and one earth)... LED is so much more visible in day time, so it makes good sense to do the change... Scalyback, please let us know how you hook up the warning lights line... good luck...Jacob

Hi Scalyback,,In Answer to Some of Your Basic Questions , Back in 1993 I went to "Wif Greens" Shefield and Bought a 500 Delux (Bit More Chrome)mine had re positioned "Idiot Lights" Done By the Dealer so each slightly different, While they Was NO Military Bike in the Catalogue (I Still have the BAVANAR one) They was a Poster of One in Indian Service and a Hint of One in The Offering (Own Imports apart) Now Jump ahead 3 Years I remember (Sorry aprox Year) Looking at a Military Model at CharnWoodClassics Liecester..But I Can Not remember a Millitary Model in Offical Leaflets till later?? ..How Ever Back in 93 "Burton bikes" Bought a Job Lot of ex Army Bikes (350s I think) as Spares / Donners and I saw them in there Back Yard... So Idiot Lights (Mine where Jawa Type) yes Lots Different...ARMY Bike is either a Grey Import (and they where lots) or a Home Spray Job? Green Engine=Army Bike Black Wheels Indian refit, Clean Engine Green Wheels & Bike Importers Bike: All IMHO of Course..If It go's ride and enjoy!!...HO! One Last Thing I Belive 1993 Was the 1st year the 500 was On the Open Market So Most "Genuine Army Bikes would be 350's"..I hope this helps..regards all Craig

The main thing you have to remember with the indicator warning light is the bulb holder is insulated and it uses the opposite side you have turned on as the ground/earth. Clever and simple but unless you understand this you will pull your hair out

For an explanation of why some diodes work and some don't, read a post from the past.
Search Hitchcocks for "led rear bulb" both pages. You will see that Warm Norm has some input there as well. Lots of input about Nacelle warning bulbs. Regards Fred

The other thing about the casquette lights is that

there only seem to be a few bikes with them, all

the same lights and white symbols above them.

One is in France and was imported from India by

it's owner, the other two are in Pune ( Poona ) and

chennai, so that is why I assumed the factory sent

a few out like that?

A mystery!!!

Also the direct replacement led lamp from superbrightleds

Seem to work especiallcialky in the single indicator tell tale!
