Hi Alan, I can see why nobody was talking about it then, obviously we seem to expect a lot more from a cafe racer, if you have the looks you need the mumbo to match. There is a nice Trifield with an 865 Triumph kicking around that was fitted without a lot of alterations to get it in

Looks a superb piece of kit rev counter the lot done away with the 50s nacelle proper headlamp looks the business to me but I,ll not spend my hard warned on it at that price you could buy a nice few machines of quality manufacture although if we were all the same the world would be boring !! Message to Alan r have you got the side stand welded back on? Major triumph failing that side stand department atb paul

I can't find any performance figures anywhere but a couple of comments from RE don't sound too promising - "in a post-performance era" and "fun at regular road speeds". Hmmmm - I bet someone (Mr H?) is already working on the go faster goodies, carb and exhaust changes etc. Also at £5,200 for the base model it's well over-priced for me but if the road test reports and such like are good I'd certainly offer my local dealer say, £4,500 for a cash deal and haggle for a much better price and a re-spray for the red tank. Looking forward to the test reports in the comic this week.

Hi guys----------- Hello GRUNDA, Paul--it's in for welding as we speak.......I've taken it to local T140 specialist Ron Hosell of WARLORD fame closeby at Worfield, Bridgnorth...The dealers I bought it from ( Cambridge Motorcycles) were very concerned when told of the failure and straightway offered either to collect the bike back with a full re-fund OR pay half the total repair costs....I've opted for the latter as I bought the bike to RIDE !! ( not to return it )..Should be ready for this week-end...Mind you for just a tad more I suppose I should have bought one of these Continental GTs' ???? Er, no thanks BUT maybe a used one in a few years time ??------------ Hey, how about a WINTER MadMikes meeting ??

I think the bike is good value compared to previous Enfield Watsonian special models.
Remember you get a Steve Harris designed frame, better forks, better adjustable Italian rear shox, better swing arm with proper rear wheel adjusters, really good Pirelli tyres, a 535 engine kit, better cams, Brembo disc brakes both front and rear it stops beautifully) , less weight, fuel gauge, alloy rims on the first bikes, top speed of 90mph, economy of over 70mpg... and it's a hoot to ride. I really enjoyed thrashing one down to Brighton.
Compared to a Watsonian Clubman it's an order of magnitude better.
It's better than any Indian Enfield I've ridden before.
Just over 5K is not a lot of money these days for a new full size motorcycle.

What is most significant about Pauls post is that he has ACTUALLY RIDDEN one of these new bikes - unlike all the rest of us.
And his informed opinion ? - it's a great ride, the best Enfield yet and great value.
He's actually ridden one - ENOUGH SAID!
And when I have ridden through this winter on my 'new' BMW I'll buy one. Enough said again!
A.L.E, just for the record I had my Electra XS (with Highway kit and our hosts full Goldy system) for nearly seven years from new and regularly did quite long 70+mph motorway runs. It certainly was nothing like gutless, never threw a rod, decapitated a piston or had any other engine issues. Perhaps that was just what some of the old iron engines did but Electra's and UCE EFI bikes are lively and mostly reliable - there is NO WAY that the new Conti GT, being made in a new automated factory, won't further build on that.
