Hi Gordon, as I discussed with Tim, the use of these bikes has changed they are no longer daily transport being flogged into the ground doing wheelies from the lights, those days are long gone. These days the oils we use are much better, we pamper them and change the oil frequently so aditional filtering is probably not all that needed, I think in the end it is a feel good factor because you think you are doing the best for your motor and as you said the asthetics side of it mightn't look the best but whatever happens you need pipework external of the motor and there isn't a lot of room above the oil tank with magneto/generators stuck directly above the oil return pipe
