-----------sorry, forgot to answer your question }---- Yes, if you want to you could slide the upper part of your existing gaiter INSIDE the protruding, short shroud.....I would use a nylon zip-tie to give additional grip onto the stanchion.....

Thanks for that Alan. I decided to wait till I get the short cover tubes from our host. At least I know how to whip the forks off and what way up the gaitors go!. I took your advice and decided to change the fork oil when I looked down the fork just to see how straight it was, and ended up emptying it on the garage floor. All part of the fun.
