Yes, it is in the tradition of "Whodunnits" with Midsomer Murders, in that the murders don't really matter as much as they do in real life. The Island is probably just as much a fantasy location as "Midsomer" is as well, though I can't claim to know the Carribean, more's the pity. "Silent Witness" it ain't. You just have to suspend a bit of disbelief and accept that the Englishman can survive the tropical heat in a suit and tie, that any police force in the world would find a Watsonian combo a sensible purchase and that a serving police officer would pout and wiggle her bum like the FBA during working hours.
That achieved, you can enjoy the plot, performances (I like that big guy with the deep voice who is Mr Makuti in the Kenco ads). All good fun and doesn't take itself too seriously.
