Kev, you have picked a difficult bike to work with, simple to work on, but with inbuilt design problems

well Norm ,in actual fact one of my oldest friends gave me the enfield ! and he has 4 others gatherin dustnrust in an old nissan hut unfortunately ..long story ,but i feel obliged to rebuild it,so im well aware of some of the problems ahead ,but im doin my home work ,im an experienced engineer and owned a number of bsa, triumphs and a norton so im reasonably well eqipped and with the help on this site im confident ill get there !

Kev, great looking bike and they get along the road fairly well, it is just parts for this model are a bit harder to find, but they certainly are fixable, I've just fitted one with an alternator and Pazon ignition and so far very reliable but a rediculous amount of work

Kev, that reference to updating
the oilpump may stem from the
post '55's oil spindle and worm
output being doubled from a single
start to a double start thread.
Hence, twice the output.
Presumably,the factory must have
had good reason to do this and more.

Also, be wary of swopping timing
case covers; early twins had a
number of subtle oil hole mods.
to trip the unwary.

Be prepared for anquish regardless.
Regular contributers here will
help you through though.

Kev,
Pazon isn't that simple you need an alternator and a lot more
