It seems only a few years ago now ( actually it was in the 1970's) that my neighbour and I co-ran an old JAP 4-stud 500cc Ex-Speedway engine in a Tig Perry (ANTIG) Grass Track frame. During some winter maintenance there came a need to split the crankcases ------ which were "reluctant" to say the least, SO }---- whilst dear Mother was out shopping "in town" we did the heat-soak method in her gas oven !! Later that week at our club meeting (Tadley & District Sporting Motorcycle Club) one of the wise, old sages enlightened us about the MAGNESIUM CRANKCASES and it's burning properties -- have a look at this }---- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnesium -----------------....Needless to say Mum knew nowt about this !!!!

tut tut chris baking engines at the weekend instead of riding hard to stafford beware your fuel will be going stale again ,and you,ll have to ride very hard to burn it off!!!!!!

Don't forget to ask the wife first if you are using the oven. I had earache for a week after i heated my BSA crank cases up........
