Are you absolutely sure you have made the primary adjustment correctly ?
Your third post mentions "wind the adjuster in to gain some slack" - this would of course REMOVE slack in the cable........ Have you checked that the cable nipple and lever at the gearbox end is not fouling the gearbox outer cover? The cable you have (assuming it's routed correctly and that it is correct to part no.) SHOULD work with your existing levers; adding adjusters to these will just make your problem worse.
Another possibility is that you have a problem with the length of the pushrod(s).....

Ok, I think I may have sorted out the problem, seems it was down to poorly made cables afterall. After removing the clutch casing, cleaning out the old grease and checking everything I tried another OE cable and finally the cable adjuster is not under tension from the off and the outer is long enough to be routed correctly. Progress at last. Thank you all for your advice.

AlanR,yes your right about the oil in the primary chain/clutch case and not the engine,i don`t know what`s in mine but the clutch/oil level is ok,the engine has 20/50 mineral oil but the gearbox has gluey stuff in it which is original because the bike has done nowt.
