Hi PeteF, yes I know but in this thread it was about swapping engines not top ends.

Chris, 350 and 500 castings are the same as far as fitting the engine in the frame goes, but not quite the same in other respects. You can't stick a 500 barrel on a 350 bottom end.

And ain't that a shame!

Actually you can, but it means moving the studs out and boring the crankcase mouth, easier to get a 500 or tune up the 350.

I'm not sure whether they give a lot more in the low end although Mr H can give you a graph of the different performance stats. What I do know is that the bike revs a lot more freely and can cope with the additional air and mixture available from the bigger carb.

Martin,
I was unaware of the fact that you had cars crawling all over your back was fun but each to their own I thought you had a problem

Well anything's possible, but I meant you can't just slot it on. Tollgate Classics will convert a 350 to 450 but at a cost. They also do a tune up package which includes HC piston, head porting and a bigger carb, again, at a cost. I've done quite a bit to my 350 and the CR conversion was definately the best mod.

Hi guys-----------careful with that engine for sale, it's an Electric Start according to the photo. BTW, I've bought some items from this chap and he seems OK.

---------I've heard that for a PRICE you can get some PARTS from a guy in Gloucestershire including a 350 crankcase set machined and modified to take the 500 crank and barrel. But I never told you that on this forum, OK ?????
