Hi guys
Im going to get crausder frame from my friend wanted to put bullet engine to build trials it quite common practrice .

Questions ..
Does it need lot of frame mod .. how about swing arm does it need to be change to fit 4.0 x 18 wheel ? Any mod please suggest and pics if possible

There are two types of swinging arm for the Crusader type frame. The later type uses silentblock bushes like the Indian Bullets and a 4.00x18 trials tyre fits without any problems. As for frame mods, there are different ways of doing it, but when I did mine I trimmed the rear engine plates infront of the swinging arm pivot. I also cut off the lower of the two front engine mounts, as it wants to share the same space as the crankcase. There is a reinforcing tube between the top tube and the front down tube that needs cutting and re-fitting to give enough room for the cylinder head. Standard tanks will not fit as the engine is higher in the frame and fouls the base of the tank, You need to make custom engine mounting plates. I also welded on extra mounts at the rear of the gearbox mounting plates to replicate the Bullet mounting design. Bullet forks fit without modification. If you can weld it is not as involved as it may sound. I have posted pictures of the frame mods on the interweb somewhere, I will try and find them. https://ibb.co/g3ucdG

Thanks John M for your feedback. perfect that is the information i was looking for. I will save the info for future use.
i think there is no mount for standard single saddle. good bike .. i like the colour you use. Ex-Works . i might try similar in my project.

Hi Im also in the middle of a similar project. is it worth moving the swingarm pivot rearwards to get the engine further back in the frame? I read in Don Morley's book that these bikes are front end heavy. is that a standard Crusader front hub in the pic? I'm using a Crusader Sports swingarm that has the flat axle plates. thanks

another question please. Im using a 500 Indian bullet engine in my trials project. has anybody fitted a Magneto to these engines? I want to do away with the battery and generator. thanks

Our hosts normally advertise one but nothing in stock at the moment--------They are fitted on Lister stationary engines, you might try their website or on E-Bay ( or other Brit. Bike singles clubs )...Expect to pay around £150 - £200 for a re-con one in good order..
