Is this the right headlight for a model G I seem to have a large mouth type hole at the bottom (picture is rotated 90 degrees)?

Barry, when posting questions about originality it helps a lot if you say what year the bike is. The Model G ran for a long time, 1946 to 1957 in various different guises and the specification changed a lot over those years, not considering all the bits fitted by Previous Owners (the Americans just call them POs!) That underslung pilot light type of headlight was fitted to a lot of early 50s bikes.

It looks the right shape.

Scalyback, if you're reading this, does Barry's ebay item match what's in your old Lucas catalogues?

That Ebay one is different, it has a rubber grommet to mount it on a flat surface. You need the type that is a lens to go inside the cast alloy cowl that is fixed to the bottom of the headlight. It also has a fixing clip that sits behind it. There should also be a rubber seal to go round the edge but you could use black silicone sealant for that. I might have one somewhere...

Hi Mark,

If you do find you have one and are willing to part with it let me know.

Is it worth me putting a wanted ad in anyway in the buy/sell bit of the forum (I feel I'm going to put a lot of wanted for this Model G)?

Barry, I've had a quick look and can't find it but I will keep looking.
