Have fitted the 18T sprocket today. Can confirm that the EuroIV B5 has a 17T as standard. Job went OK but took 4 hours. My 69 year old knees are knackered. Yet I don't remember any side effects when I rebuilt the gearbox of my 650 AJS though that was in 1966. Will test ride tomorrow and let you know if it was worthwhile.

I agree Revband. I doubt the power increase is anywhere close to the claims but it does seem sufficient to pull the higher testing with reasonable ease.
The real proof of the pudding will be the timed road tests.
I do hope fellow Bulleters didn't construe my comments as a criticism of any views it just seemed so many people wanted to know the actual facts of the stage 1 Electra kit and many threads on gearing it was worth further experiment.

If anyone still interested, I like the change from 17 to 18 teeth on my EuroIV B5. It does not at all seem overgeared, is more comfortable at 60 and 50 in fourth does not feel like you are pushing it. For someone who rides in the 50-60 mph range most of the time, it is well worth doing. The gearing is better for overtaking in the 40-60 range which is all I ever do. The change confirms my conclusion that the latest model is undergeared as standard.
