Hi Martyn,

Bullet Whisperer and his brother Ian in sunny South Wales did a good job of straightening ASBO14's frame for less than half of what my local classic repair man was quoting. He's less than 100 miles from you.

Last month I had my Crusader/Continental frame/swinging arm/forks alignment checked over by Motoliner Maidstone. They specialise in this area and have an excellent reputation and do a lot of work for insurance companies. Unfortunately they are a bit of a distance from you, but I suggest you give them a call for advice as they are a helpful bunch. Their number is 01622 790 705. A word of caution – firms like Motoliner use special jigs for this type of work (see their website for pictures) and they told me they do a fair bit of remedial work on frames and forks which have allegedly been previously “straightened” by general motorcycle engineers that do not have access to the proper jigs. Their words proved prophetic – they discovered my headstock had been well and truly bodged by another company. And they sent me the pictures to prove it.

thanks Oldboy- it might be cheaper just to get another frame, by the time I get it down to Maidstone. the steering tube is oval as well, which may render it scrap anyway

Our hosts have several Crusader frames for sale at the moment - most without documents but one has the original green log book.

My mate Bob got a Model J frame straightened recently by Mike Pegler at Avondale Welding, Bristol. I don't have an address I'm afraid.
