Hi All.. Just back from a wee break in the Emerald Isle and I've fitted up the Pazon to ASBO26 the 535GT Clubmans S cafe racer today.. Well bike starts OK ish.. It will tick over But it won't pick up on the throttle at all... So I'm thinking there is is still a Carb issue.
As previously stated I have a brand new Mk1 Concentric Premium with 106 needle jet, 220 main jet and a No3 slide.
The needle is on the bottom notch so raised as high as it can go but the bike seems to be lean in every other respect I would say.
I've ordered 107 and 108 needle jets for a start.
Any Thoughts? Tom

PS Weathers nice and I want to go for a ride!!!

The needle jet and main jet are unlikely to be causing this problem, see my previous post. What colour is the plug so we can determine (guess!) what is happening when you open the throttle. Modern fuels make plug diagnosis through colour less reliable than before but with such a marked problem I think there may be some clues to be had.

Hi Mark

Plug is generally Dark Grey/Black... The Anode is dark grey!

Not sooty at all..

I can't help thinking a 3 slide is too rich. Did you not say you had a 4 before and it was suggested you go for a 3.5?

Hi Tom, have you checked the ignition timing is correct by strobe [I know the engine wont rev up at the moment, but just to see if it is in the 'zone']. Also, as I previously mentioned, make sure your electronic ignition connections from the stator are the right way around, or it will be retarding as revs increase, rather than advancing. Also, make sure you have used the timing reference points [holes] in the stator which correspond to the rotation you have. A number 3 slide should not be too rich and should give sharper response from tickover to a small throttle opening than a 3 1/2 or 4. You could try holding the tickler button down and see if it revs up ok like that, which would indicate a fuel shortage if it runs better like that - low float level, perhaps? Regards, Paul.

Hi Guys

I had a 3.5 slide fitted previously in the old carb with a 105 needle and 210 main jet.... I changed the slide to a 3.5 with a 106 needle and 220main jet but had nothing but bother with it so i bought a new Concentric Premium.

Ive got No3 slide in the new carb with 106 and 220 jets,...

The new Pazon is set up as per the instructions and I've checked it twice.

Haven't tried the tickler trick yet..

Wonder if going mid on the needle would make a difference.. I know its weakening the mixture.. But could be worth a try!
