KC1961, you may not be aware (I wasn't) but some of people involved in the design of the Hinckley Bonneville also had an input into this bike - heard that only yesterday from someone at Triumph

Alan R.

If you had Googled any further you would see that whilst it is true the lakh is a 100,000 unit in their numbering system, they often use the lakh when referring to big value currency transactions. In the Indian convention of digit grouping, a lakh is written as 1,00,000. So for example, in India 100,000 rupees becomes 1.0 lakh rupees, written as ₹1,00,000 or INR 1,00,000 currency. This appears pretty pointless to me but there you go.

Anyway, a new RE Continental GT retails at 2,08,902 lakh in Mumbai which is 208,902 rupees, worth roughly £2,400. So a Bonneville in India retailing at 7 lakh is about £8,400.

Hello OldBoys67..... Actually I did read it all, but as you say I couldn't see the point of it either so decided to ask someone with "The Knowledge" ie your good self.....Many thanks for clearing that up....I guess you are based in India as your keyboard appears to have that symbol ???

Hello Papasmurf,---are you an industrial spy ?? LoL !! where are these photos coming from ??... Yes, that lot looks a strong enough design and a proper Hi-vo cam chain as well so all should be ok.....Flat-top piston rising into a hemi-spherical head so I'm guessing a CR around the 7 mark ( to allow use of low-grade Indian petrol ??)....

Hi again AlanR

No I'm not in India but I used to go on business trips to Mumbai many moons ago.

To add to the confusion. As well as lakh, Indians also use another element drawn from their numbering system to express prices called a crore (denoted by cr or c in advertised prices) which is 1,000,000 rupees (about £12K). This is used as a form of shorthand, so for example expensive apartments which can be many millions of rupees are often priced at so many crore.

I think thats more than enough old rupees for now.

Regards

CR @ 9.5 : 1 ???--------Well I guessed that wrong, didn't I ?.....I still think that 8:1 would give a less stressed and more flexible engine....just saying, that's all.

So what does "Air and oil cooled" mean ??..I see there is an oil cooler fitted but that's not the same thing, is it ?.....Those fins look deep enough to be the main and only source of engine cooling...

Thanks BINARY------Well there you are then, you heard it there direct from the designers mouth------it's an AIR cooled engine...So it's looking like a two-bike set up for me ie}---The Red Baron 500 Bullet'65 Mon to Fri. with the high handlebars/hard panniers Interceptor for fast touring and longer distances over a week-end..Next problem is putting my money where my mouth is --LoL !!...Start saving Alan !!.

That link seemed to start half-way through for me, did anyone else have the same problem ??......PS}-- So when's the UK launch then ??
