Andy, you have misunderstood my post, I am not knocking Harley's. Just saying a bit like Marmite, you either do or don't, it's just that I don't, also like you I don't get on with BMW boxer's either.

sorry if I've confused the issue, Revband. The "I just sometimes wish the many HD knockers out there would extend the same courtesy,,,,,,,,,,,,,," comment was in response to binary's earlier post.

2cvAndy - You made the right decision to restore- she looks great.

I have not ruled out any bike and it comes down to cost and funds at the time. But I have my favourite options.

I'm lucky that I have some surplus musical instruments that I can sell to fund another bike and I'm still looking at Triumph T100's and various Harleys.
I have to admit I've always hankered after a Harley and now's as good a time to give one a try as any- there's no pockets in a shroud. I have time to sell stuff and hopefully keep the Electra as a runaround.

I'd also love to learn how to paragraph on this forum.

Iain, if you have a particular Harley in mind and need any info just ask, I'm not really up to speed with the new stuff though, mine's 2004. What I would say is make sure you test ride the actual bike you're interested in and not just something similar. It's amazing how very different two similar Harley's can feel.

As for paragraphs, somebody (Scalyback?) posted a very good guide on how to do stuff on this forum, so I saved it. Here it is again;-

I've been telling everybody about HTML... some people will never understand it... Even "copy and paste" is beyond a lot of them...

Why can't we have a separate section devoted to an HTML reference guide somewhere on this forum?

Dear folks, as much as I get a real kick out of riding my Bonneville, A 65 and my Super Meteor, when the guys want to go on a real trip of plus three hundred miles, I take the old reliable Harley. Not a slam against my britbikes, but just reality. My verticle twins cant stand up to the long hauls we run all the time in the states. That said, Im restoring a 69 Commando; my buddy had one in the seventies, brand new, and it was a very reliable scoot. Full disclosure: nothing beats my '05 Bullet for crowd appreciation. Had a Betty Page pinup girl photo day at a local park. Dozens of Harleys. Guess what bike the girls thought was the coolest "retro"?

Thanks for all the suggestions and the HTML tips. I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to keep my Electra and buy a second bike.

2cvandy - I'd like to take advantage of your kind offer regarding advice on Harleys. I'm looking at 1200 sportsters or similar.
