Anyone found that the Oxford Blanket Multi-purpose Ant-slip Mat when used under a lightweight map holder sticks to your petrol tank leaving behind lumps of the plastic/rubber it is made from. I used one on my spray painted fuel tank and the blanket stuck to it and is a begger to remove. I am in 'discussion' with Oxford who, after giving them a lot of photos and information, suggested it can be removed with water at 48 C and a micro porous cloth - it cant. So far white spirit takes it off with a layer of paint. Anyone had similar problems?

How long had the tank been sprayed?

Two or three months and the bike used many times since re spray.

Some plastics and paints react with one another. Usually a lacquer coat over the paint protects against this. I think you have been unlucky and frankly unlikely to get anywhere with Oxford, they'll simply say they can't be responsible for how you use their product.

Thanks Graham, for reporting good customer service! I have used Oxford products over the years and always been happy with them, (good products at a fair price) but I was thinking there's obviously a limit to what they can cover. Good luck,

White spirit shouldn't normally remove paint from a tank

What type of paint was it sprayed with?

If white spirit removes the paint it won't have much chance of resisting modern petrol. It does sound like it is a paint fault rather than the Oxford blanket?.
