Thanks guys I'm with you now. I'll try and investigate tonight. What's the cure for a tight rocker? Lapping in with fine valve paste ?

do the rocker blocks up without the rocker arm fitted, and with a telescopic gauge, measure the diameter in a few spots and find your average. now measure the rocker arm bearing face with a vernier. compare your tolerances in cold/running temps. an easier way of finding out if your rockers are binding, is to manually rock your rocker arms back and forth with your fingers at eng running temp *may require removal of pushrods*. cant see how a normal functioning rocker assy would bind at high temps though.. check to see if sufficient amount of oil is reaching bottom rocker block bearing surface.

Had the rockers off tonight and I can see some slight scoring to the bearing blocks. The more immediate problem is that a part of the exhaust rocker has snapped off. There is a little piece of alloy missing at the very bottom near the o ring. Its very thin in this area where it has been machined for the o ring groove and I could see the o ring being forced out. The rocker was nice and wet so it must have been making a seal. Anyway there is no point in carrying out any further investigation on these rockers so I will order a new set. Rockers have a sum total of about 500 miles on them and I shudder to think how much money I have in this old thing now but to does make me smile every time I look at it or ride it.
