An oil pressure gauge will drive you crazy with its fluctuations, better to use a temperature gauge, it will sit with a steady indication. Or a sight gauge for when you are standing beside the motorcycle.

My reason for installing the HC pumps was to increase oil flow for better cooling of the head (not to increase the oil pressure). To prevent the oil pressure to rise too much, I enlarged some of the oilways (3,5 and 4 mm drillbits). The rocker oil feed pipe has a close to 6 mm inner diameter, so I have made the enlargements smaller than that because I don't want the oil pressure to drop below factory specs. I know my mods are only marginal in effect, but it helps cooling the tuned engine. I guess a stock bike doesn't really need increased oil flow. Just think of all the Bullets in (very hot) India.

With the sensor probe through the oil reservoir drain plug, the oil temperature rarely reaches
60C in Summer in Queensland AUS. The stock-standard Bullet oil runs cold.

I fitted Hi Cap pumps for exactly the same reason as you in that I wanted the ability to cruise at higher speeds without overheating. I'd fitted an ali barrel but it still got a bit fussy after a motorway run. I also had issues with the pump spindle stripping and had a long and arduous journey of about thirty miles on the motorway at no more than 15-20mph. Caused some serious reaction I can tell you. Amazingly got back without stuffing the bottom end although the piston was US. I sorted the problem by replacing the heavy duty springs at either end of the pump with the lighter replacements and I stopped using straight 50 mineral oil and went to GTX 20/50. Been together and running nicely for a couple of years now and apart from spitting the rubberized quill seal which I replaced with cork it has continued to go like a charm. I see little point in gauges all over the place as it is pretty easy to tell when the motor is overheating. If I were prepared to spend more money (I'm not) I'd fit a roller big end bearing that would decrease the oil pressure whilst increasing the oil sloshing around and cooling the barrel.
