Newbie Bullet 350 owner here. I picked up my Bullet about 18 months ago and its probably been ridden 20 miles at most. Its registered as a 1974 but but I believe its Indian manufactured and closer to 1994. I know being a Bullet owner was going to be challenging but I'm at my end.
My problem is that I cant get it to idle. In in the hope of someone having suggestions I will try try to describe the situation as best I can. As soon as I release the throttle the rpms drop until it stops/stalls. Since I've had it this bike has NEVER idled. I need the have the throttle on at least 1/4 or rev it to keep it alive. The rpms also drop with the throttle open. Seems to be able to hold rpms the higher they are (mid to high = rpms drop slower). Basically this bike cant maintain rpms.
I have rebuilt and cleaned the VM24 carb. Replaced the sparkplug (NKG). Fitted with S&B Filter, stock exhaust (I think), 100 main jet, 25 pilot jet and original slide and needle (set at center notch). I have tried every possible combination with the idle and air screw with no sustainable success (neither seem to have much effect).
Some other notes that may be relevant... I can only start with the choke out (hot or cold). When the choke is pushed in the rpms increase temporarily but then drop and the bike is more likely to stall/stop. When I have been able to ride the choke has been left out.
My next step is to overhaul the carb and change the main jet to a 95. Really would welcome suggestions.
