Morning ,

I have been looking through the paperwork and history of my bike , and have spoke to the last 3 gentleman who owned it over the the 20 years .

As the receipts have details of them on I thought I would chance my arm and ring the numbers, all 3 gentleman were very pleasant and 2 of them said they regretted selling it and have been looking into locating the bike.

It seems it was delivered in Nov 1960 to a MR Hart in Preston and looking at the receipts and Mot,s it didn't leave Lancashire until 2014 when it went to linconshire and to the gentleman I bought it from.

Throughly enjoying Enfield ownership and the friendly people that it puts you in touch with.

I have come to the end as the gentleman of 20 years ago can't remember who he bought it from and the receipts and Mot,s go back some 30 years but cease displaying the. Owners details.

Thought I'd share this with you to see how far others have traced back.

I was lucky, I still have the original paperwork. Sadly both gentlemen who owned it in the 60's, working at a mine, have passed recently. I seem to be the third owner, not considering the salesman I bought it from.

If you write to the DVLA they will send you copies of all the past V5c'c, V5's and a copy of the original log book. It costs £5 and I think there's a form to fill out. The REOC will also tell you the day it was dispatched from the Redditch factory and which dealers it went to. Sounds like you have the original number so you should get a complete history.

I have a complete paper trail from the shop in India, where my Lightning was bought, to the receipt from the shop where I bought the machine. Sadly. I'm the only official owner. The original purchaser died before doing anything with the Lightning. His estate asked a dealer to sell the bike.

I am the second owner of my bike. A gentleman in a town called Ølstykke, som 30 miles away from Copenhagen, bought it in 2005. He rode it for one summer. It was his last fling at life, he was dying of cancer. He put 1750 KM on the odometer. After his death, the bike I call Thumper was left in a garage for 8 years.


Then I found him... He'll be mine until I shuffle off. I hope my grandson will be old enough to ride him by then..
