Hello there, the oiling system on Leon's picture looks like very much an arrangement Fritz Egli made for the Bullet, ie the relief valve on the FEEDING cicuit that directed all the surplus oil to the rockers for extra lubrication when the engine was cold(I owned one for some years). The idea was blanking the crankshaft relief valve (when there was one) and transpose it to a much more accessible area (the feed bolt), and have a fully calibrated relief valve that directed CLEAN oil to he rockers.
One thing I don't understand on Steve T's modification is that the oil ils filtered on the RETURN circuit. I don't se the interest. I know it is the vast majority of all the british bikes to have that system, but it was for economical reasons (have some kind of filtration without the need to modifie the original oiling system). We, RE's owners have one luck (if it is the only one), is that our bikes have the oil filtered BEFORE it goes to the critical parts of the engine. So my question....
