no need to remove the seat for the side stand wires. Get hold of the wires at the switch end and follow then up the rear of the cylinder to a plug in connector, unplug, job done.

Great! - Thanks 2cvandy & all the others who replied - I'll have a good look at the weekend as I'm also wanting to remove the pannier frames as well. The bike has what appears to be a standard seat for the Electra EFI papasmurf, along with Hitchcocks supplied luggage rack. I must admit it was very cold & dark in the man-cave/shed when I was last looking but now the shorter nights are coming back it'll be a bit easier to see what I'm looking at! The bike has a free-flow air-filter with a standard 'all blued up' silencer. I'm thinking of replacin the silencer with one of Hitchcocks own freer flowing silencers? has anyone done this without using the 'Power Commander' fuel-injector ECU box thingy? Is there any danger to the engine running on the standard 'ECU'?

Hi Gaz, I have a 2009 Electra and the standard seat is without doubt the most uncomfortable bike seat I can remember sitting on, okay for the first hour and then quite literally a pain. It's probably not helped by the fact I have long legs so I get cramp in my thighs with this seat as well as the usual numb bum syndrome. Might explain why our hosts have them on offer at £50? The seat pan on mine was quite badly rusted too and the grab rail had worn holes through the covering on both sides. I've bought one of these for mine which will hopefully help ( 91457 FRONT CHIEF SEAT WITH FIXINGS, BROWN LEATHER (CLASSIC EFI) ) although as it's part of a few other mods I want to do I've not had time to fit it yet. My bike is running our hosts replacement silencer with the standard downpipe, the oxygen sensor has been disconnected and it has a resistor plugged in instead. I'm sorry I don't know what the resistor is, it was done by a previous owner but I'm sure someone on here will know? I posted a picture of it in a previous thread about whether the oxygen sensor was required. What I can tell you is the bike runs just fine without a power commander and sounds lovely without the baffles. Good luck

Gaz, you can replace the silencer without the PC unit. It'll pop a bit and probably run lean but it'll be fine.

Leon this bike is an EFI so I can only assume it is also a UCE and if this is the case it is always wet sumped
