The tail filament of the stop/tail bulb on my (newly acquired) 2004 bullet sixty 5 blows every so often. Any suggestions on a likely cause and how to remedy it?

It works for a few rides (total 3 or 4 hours) before it blows. Stop light does not fail.

Are you buying cheap bulbs in the local pound shop they might not be up to the vibration of a motorcycle especially an Enfield

Check the earth as well as the condition of the tail-light wiring and any connectors. You could try a quartz-halogen stop tail bulb with heavier duty filaments or perhaps try LED bulb replacements. A

Halfords do specific motor cycle bulbs which i assume are to help withstand vibration.

Anyway cheap enough to give it a try..

If you can, then measure the voltage at the bulb holder with the engine at a fast tickover, around 13.8VDC would be ok.

Also check earthing which if causing a resistance can mess with bulbs..
