I think his point was, that one doesn't have to be picky about brand names.. If the handbook says 20w/50.. then use that grade.


(Does chip oil come in 20/50? If it does, I'll try it..)

I guess I meant to ask if traditional mineral 20w50 was the right one?



Adrian, I will try on the french forum, but after ten years here, I can't speak french. Mind you, Everybody I know speaks very good English now!

I saw a video once (Top Gear??) where they tried to "kill" a Honda Cub. One of the things they did to it was drain the oil and refill with used chip fat. It ran fine!
How long it would run like that I don't know but with no oil at all it wouldn't last long.
