That's a nice looking bike, apart from the panniers which must have been made from biscuit tins and fitted in the dark! And it's from Haywards, longtime RE Dealer with a good reputation. REgards, Mark

Nice looking bike? Yes and no, nice neat job with the engine, but that homemade tinware is - my apologies to whoever made it - absolutely hideous. Still, not a hard job to recitify, which, assuming it's mechanically OK, would be my first priority if it came my way. It would actually be an interesting stable-mate for my own RE anglo-indian bitsa, the exact opposite, as mine has a 700 twin frame from 1960 with a (sort of) Electra-X engine and gearbox in it. It's also painted maroon, strangely enough.

The twin engines are still about, I saw two in the autojumble at the Bristol Classic Bike Show at Shepton Mallet the other week (there's another big autojumble coming up there in a few weeks). Later Redditch frames can still be had too, our hosts have some. I am looking forward to seeing the result of pomps' efforts in a while, and I promise to post nice comments!

Regards,

A.

Pomps you can keep your gearbox, you only need to find a twin mainshaft for it

Another thing Pomps, stay away from the early twins, look for 56 Super Meteor on, they have an alternator
