Oh, Scaly, I forgot to say: why not use the electric start? Especially when it cuts out at a road junction. It's MUCH safer than walking it to the side and kick starting.

And now for a bollocking!! Don't even THINK of swapping the EFI system for a carb! Carbs are crap compared to a good EFI system like ours. Anyway, you've no idea yet whether it's even the EFI that's causing the problem. It could be an ignition fault, dodgy battery leads, anything.

Intermittent cutting out like that is not a known failure mode of the ECU/EFI box, so don't start throwing expensive new parts at it hoping one of them will cure the fault!

I know you know this, really, but we all need reminders sometimes! :-)

I never use the electric start. They seem to come with their own problems!

Did a lovely bump start a day or two ago. Cos EFI's have that compression reduction thing that works on engine rpm, it just begs for a bump start once in a while!

Another possible culprit could be the side stand cutout switch if your bike has one.

These are known to cause problems with the bike cutting out. Simple fix too.

It might be worth disconnecting it just to rule it out.

Sorry Michael I missed your post. The toolbox is either a Swiss or French army vehicle emergency box. The app is on my iPhone and it's called Engine RPM. It's not a free app that it is very good.
