It seems to be a quirk of big singles although I wouldn't expect and EFI to do it. My old Yamaha SRX never did it (they had a strange twin carb) but a mates Honda XBR used to. My 350 Bullet used to do it and my current Iron 500 does it, both with the Micarb and a brand new Amal. I've adjusted both carbs many times over the years and experimented with different slides and it will tick over on the drive all day. Once amongst busy traffic it's just a matter of time before it goes 'pop' and stalls, usually just when the lights go to green and there's a huge truck behind me. It actually stalled tonight filtering home through rush hour traffic in the dark!

It's when you hit 'Post Reply'

Sometimes the screen does not change for a few seconds while the forum thinks about it, it you then hit the button a second time, then it does register both and hey presto.

I'm going to try three times in quick succession, but it doesn't always work.

I think, after a long time considering this highly complicated issue, that Presto just about nailed it....

Occams razor. The simplest solution is often the best.
