Hi Guys.
I have just found out what caused the Rubbers to fall off the Cylinder
The petrol tank has a serious leak from the seals underneath & petrol been dripping onto the Cylinder head & barrel this has rotted parts of the Rubbers causing them to fall off, apparently this petrol tank problem is quite common with the new 535GT according to the dealer I bought it from *****
Happy RE days

Lewis hi - I just read your post about vibes. The rubbers won't make any difference to the vibration. I think that's purely psychological. Sorry! The vibes come from the out of balance forces which are inherent in all internal combustion engines, which reciprocate. To have an affect on the vibration you need far more serious mechanical intervention, like a balance shaft or, to some degree, a head steady. Head steadies are remarkably effective even though the old-style ones were very simple.

MZs had lots of rubber bungs but they still made that characteristic ring ding ding sound. They were good little bikes though.

For my current thoughts on the bike see - https://royalenfield535gt.squarespace.com/

Best wishes. Stephen

Stephen yes I am aware now of the rubbers being there for the noise, what concerned me was the fuel tank leak which rotted some of the rubbers, just been informed by the bike shop that the repairs have been done to the tank on my bike but now they have found when checking the bike out before returning it that both head light & tail light bulbs were blown, has anyone else had these problems either bulbs/electrical or fuel tank leaks,or any other issues ?

I have been advised that these bikes should be recalled for the fuel tank leak as there have been others, they think the apparent cause is vibration

Lewis... the Royal Enfield bikes (not sure about GT yet, but definitely the other EFI bikes) have some questionable electrics. Take a few electric connectors, fuses and wee bits of wiring with you whenever you ride and you'll be fine!!! Problem areas include the rear wiring loom and location of the relays on the non-GT EFI bikes. Might be worth checking/mentioning to your dealer.

Shame about those tanks!!!

Help needed.

On my GT I have found that one of the bar end rubbers is missing, it goes in the end of the handle bar & the bar end weight tightens up to it, its only missing on one side, the dealer who I bought the motorcycle from cant locate one anywhere in the UK.

This was definitely missing before I got the motorcycle !

There are 2 rubbers in each handle bar,the inner most rubber holds the nut that the rod screws into & the outer most rubber is the one I am looking for its only missing on one side the Left which creates a lot of extra vibration in the left hand side handle bar,the bar end weight shudders & vibrates like hell when the revs start to climb.

Can any one help locate one of these rubbers

Thanks

Greaser hi, are you sure it is missing? Have you taken the clip on off and had a good look inside? I only ask this because when I put the bar end mirrors on I made the mistake of unscrewing everything and if you do that it leaves the rubber, which is actually a rubber and washer as I remember, inside the tube of the clip on. Have you taken the little blanking rubber off the end? I mean the end nearest the instruments and had a look inside? If the bar end weight unscrews it can leave one of the expansion washers inside.

Yes I know I did the same as you & had to re-assemble both sides, but there are 2 rubbers in each bar the inner most that hold the nut & the one at the end where the Weight is, the one at the bar end thats missing has a flange on it to stop it pushing right into the handle bar when tightening up the screw.
on my bike there was 2 rubbers at one side only,& only one,the inner rubber on the other side...I have been in touch with MotoGB & they have put one in the post i am awaiting the delivery..but already I have a sneaky feeling it will be the wrong rubber [the inner most one without the flange that holds the screw] I keep you posted
