I was checking the oilways on the crankcase and timing cover today, on my '54 magneto fired bullet, prior to reassembling the engine. I've noticed the oil pump is very different to the one in the indian bullet engine I removed. The British bronze pump discs are smaller and have only 1 port compared to the 4 on the indian discs. Second is that the feed pump on the british motor has 4 holes drilled in the case. The top 2 (numbers 2 + 3 when viewed from the rear of the engine) are feed from the tank and send to the filter and on to the crank.Number 4 is joined to number 3, but is out of range of the port in the rocking disc. to be fed by it. Number 1 is a complete mystery as it goes only about an inch, - Straight to the timing cover gasket, which also has a hole corresponding to the exit for number 1 hole. However, there is no drilling in the crankcase. The nearest is the feed hole from the oil tank, which is a good 4mm forward of it and is 2x the size, which goes to number 3 hole at the feed pump. Both 1 and 4 hole are out of range of the disc port both in the radius from centre and range of rock of the disc. What are they supposed to do?
