I didn't ask where they were stamped, as I had to think of a plausible way to get the numbers without arising suspicion.

It's all speculation until someone sees the frame and engine numbers and can verify they are original 1965 stampings (which in theory at least they could be)

Interesting bitsa, not that there's anything wrong with bitsas as long as no one pretends anything. It looks to have a Redditch tank and front brake and after marked mudguards, quite different from the original 77 bike. In our REOC local branch we have a 1964 Indian bullet (Tollgate 450), not a phoney, a 1951 framed diesel bullet with Indian cycle parts, and a 1953 framed 500 with a mix of Indian and Redditch bits!

Chris, Paul, that's more like it! A nice mix of Redditch and Indian parts with all the mods aimed at making a good useable road bike. Looks like a Redditch Clipper tank, Lucas SR1 magneto (excellent,) Redditch double side front brake, probably really effective on a 350, Monobloc carb, Smiths magnetic speedo (sadly broken), altogether a well put together special and most important not pretending to be something it ain't!

You think this one is bad, one has just turned up for sale out here claimed to be a 1966 rebuilt from the frame up. 5 speed, disc brake, electric start and the clown wants $8000 for it, hope nobody falls for this one

Well, I can only assume that the seller has had a few emails by now, and has only amended, not pulled the ad.

I guess it would not be wise to buy from this seller.
