Has anybody worked out a way to fudge past this piece of rubbish, a way of bypassing/overiding them. At $170 a hit it is a bit hard to stomach particularly when the 3 I know of that have failed have failed at fairly low ks but just enough to be out of warranty

Hi NORM-----Let me start off by saying I'm not up to speed with the detailed workings of these items BUT, using a bit of "outside-the-box" thinking it must transmit a varying electrical signal proportional to the O2 content such that it makes "sense" for the CPU to interpret ??...........OK, here's an idea}-- Attach a variable rheostat to the loom in place of the sensor and use it in the same way as you would the old AMAL choke lever..??? or something along those lines .........

Hi Norm, You do ask some interesting questions, makes me think anyway…

By the way have you seen the price of a fuel pump lately..

The O2 sensor cannot just be removed or substituted. at least not with the standard ecu setup.

It is an important link in the chain of command, along with Throttle position sensor, crankshaft position sensor and more...All sending information to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) which determines the best fueling at any given engine speed/loading..

We won’t go into open and closed loop parameters.. suffice to say it won’t work…

One possible solution could be to fit a power commander which picky backs the standard ECU and necessitates the removal of the O2 sensor…

Provides fixed or programmable fuel mapping to your requirements..

Two.. Remove the entire EFI system and replace with a carburated conversion kit along with electronics to suit…

Neither are cheap options and could well be illegal in certain countries i.e. US California where emission laws are rigidly enforced..

Heres a nice little video of a guy doing the latter, Frustrating as my schoolboy french isn't up to it but i like to see how he works and the tools he uses..

Hi Alan and Gwilly, trust me I don't go looking for these problems, they keep coming at me lol. I just saw a fuel pump on fleabay over $500 they have to be kidding. These things are not some high tech machine built in Japan they are still made in India and the quality still seems to be a problem. Even Korean bikes are built to a much better standard and cheaper

Seems like you are stuck with this rubbish because this was sent to me You can get other sensors for half the price but not the right thread
"RE have done such a deal with NTK (Division of NGK) that the O2 sensor is not available from any other source". The more I find out about this later Indian stuff the less I'm liking it

Brilliant video! I understood every word. (ahem.) The bloke in the background of the workshop who was constantly on the angle grinder or air tools clearly doesn't approve of farting about with old bikes though! The interesting bit was at the end where in the "credits" he explains (I think) that he took the decision to fit a carb after continual problems with the injection and something else. I'm sure H's will be offering this soon... REgards, Mark

Interesting video, I have wondered for some time if they just use an Electra rotor. I watched very closely and he didn't fit a new pulse coil so the existing one must be in the correct position. Mark MrH has had that kit out for some time, I guess the one they fitted was one of his
