I have a low mileage 2004 Bullet sixty 5. Gear selection can sometimes be a little hit and miss, despite having carried out the recommended clutch adjustments. I gather this is fairly normal, but I wondered if it was a deficiency in the selector mechanism that might be improved by changing to the right hand system.
If anyone has carried out this conversion I would be interested to know the result.
Many thanks.

Klutz, done so many lost count, fairly straight forward, just tedious but you might find issues when fitting the outer cover, it usually gives me problems, particularly with the neutral finder, I have to file it out to get clearance, apart from that shouldn't have any problems

Kluts, of course it will improve the selection but remember it will still be an Albion but at least you can find all the gears, most of the time

Play about with the rod adjustment for the clutch and the others also, my gearbox is pretty good and the adjustments are not as recommended

Are you used to older style machinery klutz?
If not you WILL find the gear change clunky. Firm and steady is what you need.
Just be glad you don't have a 4 speed Albion.

There is a weak point worth checking when adjustments seem to get you nowhere…

The ball and ramp clutch actuator has been known to crack and you never get full plate separation.

The clutch gets hot and drags making gear changing a real pain…

Just a suggestion as Enfield saw fit to modify the cable attachment to a swivel type.

I’ve borrowed a couple of pictures from pete snidal which demonstrate the problem nicely…

See how the lower one is cracked across the middle… Indian metallurgy in evidence again…

Its doubtful that the box is worn out at such low milage but anythings possible..

Maybe camplate, rollers and pin a bit sloppy or cross shaft bearings likewise…

But then the gearbox is being striped and examined.. Big job.. Try simple first.. gwilly.
