Evening guys, I accidentally unplugged my power box while removing the tool box and didnt make a note of which wires went where. I have red black and 2 yellows from the power box. and 2 purples and 2 others (sorry now away from the bike and cant remember the other colours, might be green and orange??) from the wiring harness. Please could someone give me a clue as to which go where.

Many Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian, the existing wires must still be there, black is to bat negative, red to bat positive. You obviously have a 4 wire stator so you have to connect each of the purples to either of the other 2 wires and then start the motor and give it a rev and see what A/C voltage reading you are getting from these wires. Swap the wires over and test again and then use the combinatin that gave the higher A/C reading. Then connect these wires to either of the 2 yellow wires coming from the powerbox. Start the motor and check to see what D/C voltage is going into the battery. All this testing is no guarantee because I have seen alternators putting out low A/C voltage but are charging the battery ok

Ian, depends on which bike youve got, different bikes different wiring.

Need some more detail really Ian.. Its possible the bike may have been converted to DC only.. Often is, otherwise why bother with a power box?
Does the headlight work with the engine stopped? Only asking because of this possible amber wire floating about….

If its a standard ES bullet with power box then chances are reconnect as per Norm, Yellows join to purples..

Black from P,box is negative and should join to a black wire from the harness..

Red from P,box is your supply to or from your amp meter, connect to red/yellow from the harness…

If you have an amber wire and the system is now DC then its possible the amber is the negative return from the headlight and may have been spliced in with the black negative wire…

I think we need a more positive idea of what you have… either way test carefully and double check… gwilly
