Even before you sit on or ride the new Continental GT, it’s clear that the factory has put a great deal of effort into making sure that this machine is spot on for looks and finish. The paintwork has an impressive depth and smoothness; the fittings are good quality and overall the bike looks ‘right’. Like the best examples of iconic ‘classic’ bikes, it’s a complete and stylishly integrated package.

Riding the bike proves that the Continental GT is not all looks! The first thing you notice as you switch on the ignition is that the needles of both clocks swing fully round and back again, showing all is well. Then there’s the lovely exhaust note – the deep throated sound of a big single. Clutch action is light and gear selection is positive and dependable. On the road the new frame proves its merits, with steering, road-holding, suspension and brakes responding faultlessly to road conditions and riding style. The ride is also surprisingly comfortable, despite the slim racy seat and the eye-catching clip-on bars. Some magazine test riders have remarked on vibration and performance, but this is a 535cc single cylinder push-rod engine and as such performs well. Best of all its great fun to ride, a bike you simply want to keep riding! All in all the Continental GT is by far the best Royal Enfield India has given us so far!
In due course we will be making a range of performance parts and accessories available.
