Thanks Gentlemen, had another little play and now all running again. She appears a little easier to start but I think that the spark is a little weak, there is also evidence that the points cam has been moved/replaced at some stage as the screw head is a little chewed, does anyone know of an easy way to make sure that the cam is in the right place??

Steve,
I'm sure the screws have been undone and done up many times on a 1958 Bullet, not surprised the screw heads show wear. The fact it is running means the points cam is fairly close. The fact that you wanted to know how many decrees to set it made me assume you were going to strobe time it. Many thing can come into play with the timing like bob weights not advancing or advancing too quickly. Strobe timing picks this up because any static way of checking is just a guess that it works
