Urgh, well wiring repairs worked. For a couple of days, all earths replaced wherever possibly noted as corroded. However, joy of joys, a dead bike again today. A new death though... so at least it is keeping me interested. This time the EFI warning light came on, and stays on. I am at a loss now. Completely.

Hi Alan... I wish! We just shelled out on a 1987 campervan as a project (supposed to be a running project, but that came to a halt with the RAC on Friday!). Another purchase would probably require a good price for my soul... and it probably wouldn't fetch much today given the amount of cursing I have done! What with parts on order from VW for the bus, and a dead bike in the garage at home, I'm just a bit fed up.

Alan I can't imagine anybody wanting to buy another Enfield when they have so many problems with the existing one given the fact it is a fairly new one. Old ones you can understand updating for new

Hi guys----------- I can't help feeling that RE should have developed a completely NEW engine for this bike...To my eyes it looks like they've wrapped a snazzy frame around an old(ish!) motor.....Should have got Kawasaki to do a similar thing for them with a 600 single ( Top end of that particular Tax Band rate) that they did for the fledgling Hinckley Bonneville back in the early development days....But I'm only a "Customer" --- what do I know, eh ??

Alan, are you talking about the Continental GT or the EFI? The EFI was a new engine. And Norm, you have hit the nial on the head - so fed up with my bike at the moment. Some of the problems are down to me now quite doing things right, but a lot of them are down to shoddy design or poor quality control. Modt of the things I have replaced or removed have been done to the benefit of reliability, but the electrics have always been dodgy at best. Now the are down right unreliable. We will see, no doubt it'll be something really simple which I didn't do properly last week when I repaired or replaced huge chunks of the loom... hopefully.

hi michael, sorry to hear of your many efi troubles ,the efi i look after for a mate had problems in rain every time it got wet it stopped and let him down he was getting grief from his recovery service as to the unreliability of his bike anyway cutting a long story longer i moved all the fuses into the right hand side chrome tool box fitted a new fuse board with better blade fuses rewired the main feed from the battery to said fuses etc, what gave me the idea for this was mr enfield india had hidden some relays in the other chrome carbunkle to the rear of the battery cover so i thought give it a whirl guess what he has not had a problem since touch wood as this guy is a jonah so check the weedy main power wire not the one to the starter as thats heavy duty on the poss side of battery anyway thats enough for this efi sage only to say this the efi is a nice bike but and its a big but the wiring is a complete dogs arse ,i have advised my mate the jonah to buy a nice bmw to pull his chair although he,s that unlucky he would buy a pup,he,s took a shine to my brand new HARLEY SO YOU NEVER KNOW?although he wont fit a chair on a sporster they are not to be used with sidecars anyway hope some of this drivle helps and remember keep taking the pills atb paul.

Bike got me to work (13 miles or so) and no further. As soon as I switched my headlamp for testing towards the end of the journey, all other lights went out, and now, presumably, I have blown another fuse as the bike is yet again, electrically dead. Haven't bothered checking yet. Why bother?!
