Saw a C5 go past me today, despite the bad press it's always got still would like to have a go in one.

As I remember the fear was that they would be picked out from under cars and trucks that has unwittingly driven over them.

Hi BERTIE-------------when you say it "went past you" I take it you--and your Enfield-- were stationary at the time ?? (PLEASE say that you were !!)------------

LOL Alan, no I was on foot waiting to cross the road, unfortunately my local council has been over generous with the road salt the last few days so Bertie is garage bound until the rain washes the nasty stuff away....and no fear although the C5 was whizzing along the traffic was over taking it

Like many of Sinclair's products, it suffered from a fundamental wonkiness. However, conceptually it was maybe a good idea in some contexts; if you lived somewhere like Milton Keynes or the Netherlands with decent, separate cycle routes it could have been excellent. I've never ridden one, but I like recumbent pushbikes and with modern battery technology, the C5 could have been OK.

If the battery and electric motor was dumped I reakon you could get an Enfield 500 lump in it!

I seem to recall that the motor was adapted from a washing machine one; did it show you a clean pair of heels? I'm told they never went fast enough to spin off......
