Animal, not sure what power you think is trapped in there somewhere but this is a 500 Enfield not a 500 Japper

Hi Norm. If all the literature says 130 kmh top end and the thing will only do 110 down a cliff with a following wind, summat ain't right!

Animal, your motor is still tight, you are pulling a chair and are running on standard gearing and restrictive exhaust system - 60mph from a 500 pushrod single is a reasonable performance under those circumstances. The same machine, without the chair, will cruise at 72mph (116kph) and reach 82mph (132kph) indicated flat out - in my experience of riding a number of these EFI UCE Enfields.
The exhaust header is very restrictive, repalcing it for one without the restrictions WILL release quite a bit more torque in the mid-range. The air filter can also be changed for a less restrictive version for a further power increase. Our hosts are right in saying that the ECU will need remapping as the machine will be running weak after these changes.
The silencer change will be worth doing after making the other changes.
Finally, if pulling a chair then the standard gearing will be too high in all likelyhood, it still may well be worth going down a tooth or two on the gearbox sprocket.
Best of luck with all this please keep the forum updated with your progress.

Is it like this??

Either grind off the welds or cut through the pipe just behind the welds.

Clear out that restricting junk. cheers gwilly.

Long time no hear! The "baffle" was the cat. converter and has been removed, and a K&N air filter is in place, but at 2800 km top end is still 110kmh. Problem I'm sure is the fixed mapping on the India-spec model as there's no lambda sensor fitted. The Indian blogs complain about rich mixtures, and that's at sea-level while I'm at 1500 metres above sea level. My cheapest option will be to fit a Power Commander.

Before I spend $300, though, I need to be certain that it will work without the "O2 Optimiser" connected. There is no provision in the loom to fit one.

Has anyone tried running a PCV in that configuration?

I'm visiting from Zimbabwe and will be in Newcastle until 22 Aug, and it would be great to return with all the right go-faster bits.

Thanks all

Literature has lied for centurys, Norm is right, unless you heavily modifiy these bikes dont expect much more than 110km/hr (true speed)
