Hi guys-....NORM, the tickler works a-ok, it's just that re-starting is so difficult.... GRUNDA, --- whilst touring the Irish Republic a few years ago (Moto Guzzi California 1100i), one of the B&B places had the original "Mrs. Doyle" character----complete with "more tea,?" and }---Ah, go-wan, go-wan, go-wan---------- it's probably the BEST hols we've ever had...Everyone we met was more than just "polite" and were genuinely interested in our "Round-the-Irish-coast" tour by motorbike...You could say it had a positive e-feck-t on us !!!----------Not many home bikes on the roads though ??--or CONCENTRIC CARBS, either (that's just me keeping to my own thread heading)............ I ran a Bullet 65 a while ago, fitted our hosts Concentric kit to that and it ran perfectly fine straight away.......... I'm hoping they will suggest I return it to them for investigation----maybe try it on one of their bikes ??---I'm told that Amal tried the pilot jet in different positions over the years.

hi norm ,buying the rod & bearing was painless almost if you say £275 + vat quick enough, getting it fitted a night mare took it to my mate at a local bike shop ,who said he could do it then a problem arose which he thought he could sort 2 weeks later not sorted ,then he says my mate can do the job so he sends it off 3 weeks later still not back home in blighty, so next week i should get it back ,i wish someone would buy me a hydraulic press for christmas then i could have done it myself apart from the press i have access to all the other gear ,bugger!!atb paul,

hi alan ,i find this post regarding your concentric carb a little worrying as i too have bought a concentric carb from our host ,now mine is supposed to be set up for my electra x a model that is not as well known as the iron barrelled 500 classic ,i would have thought that carb setting up & jetting for all 500cc iron barrelled bike would be the same ?wouldn,t they ?obviously the state of your engine is known only to you i.e modifications etc but this is a example for instance ..new bullet amal carb fitted with xyz jets and settings next 1 on the production line the same and so on or are they all different are no two the same?am i being silly if so who makes up their minds what setting s are what etc ,i thought that excuse my ignorance that our host had set the carbs up just minor tweaking required to airscrew and tick over or am i again being naive, anyway food for thought atb paul

Hello Paul, -------- don't let the "worry demon" get to you...Previously I had a Bullet 65 to which I fitted the same kit and that worked a treat...No, there's something not quite right with this particular carb I'm thinking...I'm told that it's unusual for a Mk1 Concentric for a 4-stroke engine to have the pilot jet as the screw-in type rather than the pressed-in bush type..This one is the screw-in type....Anyway, I've wasted enough time (and money) on this ---it was only supposed to be a "one carb off--another carb on " job which I'd held-over until the winter programme... I need the bike back on the road ASAP, so have decided to return the whole kit and exchange for similar value items....The Givi Pannier kit would be useful--(The Mikcarb that I took off was running A-OK all this year with our "Riggers" jetting in place-- I've not changed anything else at all.)--- I currently have a Honda GL1000 awaiting carb ultrasonic clean, etc before going on E-Bay in the New Year, plus a Honda CB750 Hondamatic engine re-fit, re-commission and offer for sale in the Autumn of 2013... so you can see I'm a busy chap (Did I mention about the 5" gauge live steam locomotives undergoing overhaul as well ??)----- so, as the song says}---"Don't worry, be happy"

Hi Grunda 12 just to let you know I bought the performance kit some three years ago for the Electra X and the Amal went straight on no problems and ran from the off. I have made some other mods and increased main jet to 230 over the years but engine never missed a beat since I fitted the Amal.

Hi Guys--------- UPDATE---------Have received a very understanding response E-Mail from our hosts and they are happy to have the kit returned in "Undamaged" condition for a full re-fund... I'll be removing and packing that tomorrow and taking a trip to Enfield's "Tracy Island" (ie the home of International Rescue for the Royal Enfield )on this coming Friday at about High Noon. ---- maybe some of you might be there also ??--------- will let you know how I get on.
