Have only binned them metaphorically, they will sit in the parts drawer gathering dust likely as not, but I'm keeping my options open ! chuffed with the feel of the bike now though, and must have shed 5kg + from the bike at least !

Its not just indian Enfields Alan R. that have sprag clutch problems. There is just as much whinging and complaining about unreliable and self-destructing sprags on other bike forums, including Ducati, Aprilia and of course Triumph. There is also a wealth of information about repairing sprags out there too without spending silly money.

I'm still having probs with mine...sprag went-replaced at great cost....fixed for about a week-then the starter wouldn't turn the engine over...just fitted new solenoid and it still won't start on the electric...still just turns the starter motor but not the engine...I've been using the bike with the kicker having disconnected the starter and may just continue to do so!

Hi Martin, I found that by fitting A Thunderbird inner primary it improved the looks of the motor a lot. Only problem is it doesn't have the hole for the left shift, but I think you might have right shift fitted now?

Hi Roberto. You will have to open the primary chaincase and remove the stator and clutch. You can now gain access to the engine sprocket hidden behind the stator. You may need the special engine sprocket extractor to take it off. Once removed, the electric starter gears and sprag clutch hidden away in the tall bit of the chaincase should just fall out. Just put everything back together again without the gears and clutch and electric starter motor and plug the hole in the chaincase. I believe you may be able to buy a plug on this site.

Norm - no i don't think i could cope with a right foot change now after all the years of using the left .I haven't had a "proper" Brit bike for 35 years.
