There we go, got that out of my system (I think).


I regularly set sail for Euston from my Pirate's Lair in Norf Lunnon, so am definitely in the Smoke...anyone else? London Bulleteers could meet up at the Ace maybe??


NB who was the mechanic you recommended James, and where was he? I know one or two but am always looking for another in case one retires/walks the plank...

Hi Tim,


I see more and more Bullets around London. Not a lot by any means but consistently more over the 3-4 years I've been into them and therfore noticing them.


 The mechanic I suggested (and one I use) is a fella called Keith who runs a little place in Kingscross. I'm not saying he is the ultimate in Enfield mechanics, but I had a fair amount of trouble finding anyone who is happy to work on my bike. And of those I did Keith is by far my prefered choice. And he has certainly never given me cause to doubht him. As I said before he seems to be getting more and more buisness from Enfield owners who are recomending him. The result of this probably means he is becoming more of an enfield expert, he he.

For me it's the most fun I've had on a bike for a very long time, I'd begun to lose sight of the joys of pottering around, and moved on to bigger, faster, more expensive machinery, the Bullet is even more fun than my previous benchmark 'fun bike'  my old TS250 MZ, am about to hit 50, but I too have a youth inside my head ! long may he influence me !!

W---O---T !!!!!>>>>> do my eyes deceive me ??  Ye gods--gadzooks and little green apples-- a motorcyclist (james BLT ) asking where the hallowed "ACE CAFE'" is ??                             Sorry chaps---got slightly carried away there for a bit. I do apologise. What I meant was--in this modern age of I.T.--just GOOGLE ACE CAFE' and bingo !!--there you are. Simples --like me--and my Enfield.    Friends (the fully paid-up type ) call me Yoghurt ie thick & fruity. Now, back to the title ----- Yesterday evening I went for a ride with a couple of my BSA chums and finished by riding into the sunset over the Welsh hills. Says it all  !!!

James BLT, the Ace Cafe is located on the Norf Circular near Park Royal. It is/was one of THE biker cafes in London (if not the World). As Alan R suggests, try Googling it. The guy running it is Mark Wilsmore, a bike nut of the best type.


Go there on any Sunday (sorry) to get an eyeful of the best bikes, bike scene, atmosphere, etc.


Chelsea Bridge? Meh.

Back on Topic. . . .


I've had a rather awesome couple of days in the beaming sun, running erands around the city.WARMTH on my bike again! . . . . the returning memory previously foged by the winter's shroud . . . . "This is what it's all about!"


I have been solving a few niggling clutch, electrical & carb problems on my bike over the last few months and now she is running so sweet and 'tight' that I almost feel i'm sat on a jap bike (my fading memories of years past when 3rd gear was always right next to 2nd, and the front brake did something). BUT having her work so sweet after all my efforts, makes ridding around in this weather all the more sweet. . . . Echoing what Barry Q said about "The reward is when they start first time and perform without fault"

Hello TimG----- "On  any Sunday"---My, now that's showing your, how-shall-we-say--- Maturity ?? ( and, by inference, mine as well. Oh dear). Yes JamesBLT--get yourself and "Enny" dahn to the ACE. If you're into biking, and I guess you are, then this is NIRVANA--BIG TIME. For the "Full-on" effect go on any Theme Sunday. It's all on their site. I call my Enfield--------- anything I like really. Makes no difference. Funny though, seems to run better when the BSA mob turn up.  SPOOKY.

Why did I buy an Enfield ??  Well, I bought it originally to commute on about 5 or 6 years ago.A nice silver '65 trail machine but those Continental Brick-Block tyres that Watsonian's fitted were lethal on a road going bike. I took the "Upswept"curved piece off the exhaust system so that the silencer was now parallel to the ground. With the straight bars, alloy mudguards and sump guard retained---I fitted MrH's cheapie Indian panniers---which weren't too bad to be fair---and had achieved a form of Civillian Despatch riders "look". Later on---fork gaitors, disc convertion and a rear rack added to the versatiltiy. and a power box kept the sparks reliable. All in all a decent middle-weight bike that was fun to own,ride etc. including the Amal convertion. Alas the Domestic Engineer preferred being pillion on the Gold Wing instead so it had to go.  Fast-forward to 2012----we've both retired now and Alan R has been riding on a Honda CG125 behind the BSA big singles. What a lovely noise going up and over the Welsh hills !!!  So it's back to RE on a 2005 Bullet Classic 500. And guess what configuration I'm aiming towards ???
