The Clymer Indian that sold on ebay last year for a $1000 has surfaced again in Melb Australia. A few weeks ago it was put on ebay with a $20,000 buy it now. Obviously nobody even looked at it and it is back on ebay again with a start bid of $6500. It is still in the very poor state of affairs that it was originally sold in

Interesting, have you posted this on the Interceptor Group? I'm guessing it will be heading your way for some work at some stage, stand by for a phone call from the new owner! REgards, Mark

Hi Mark,
I haven't been on the Interceptor site since my email was hacked a year or so ago and I never go to rejoin, Yahoo was giving me problems. The fact it turned up in Melb makes me think Phil Dolan probably brought it here but I haven't seen or spoken to him for 12 months or so.Probably should give him a ring but I have been busy

Hi Mark,
It is pretty much a pile of parts bolted together in a frame, in very poor condition really only good for motor and box and even these will need total rebuild. I can't see a Clymer Enfield being collectable either. I think the original sale price of $1000 is about what it is worth, the second sale on Craigs List at $2800 would be top dollar. Put another $2000 on it to get it to Aus and you can see how things can go horribly wrong

Norm, does that mean you've seen it or pics? Did Phil buy it? You're right about it being a tough one to do, very much for the total collector! The guys here in the UK who did one recently had a real struggle at times and there was more of it from what you say.

Hi Mark,
I haven't seen it but Phil has and he just says before anybody even thinks about it an inspection is a must, because it is that bad it is going to take a massive effort and money to get it up to scratch and then it is still only an orphan sort of bike with no real heritage. Might be rare but that doesn't always make things collectable In saying that I would love the motor and box to put in a Bullet frame but not at that sort of money he wants

Hello, just an alternative view point

Prices in the UK for big twins is on the increase, for Enfields as well as all the other big twins.

$2800 in the UK will just about buy you a Series 2 engine and gearbox for rebuild.

I looked long and hard at this Clymer. For sure it is just a pile of parts bolted together but it has most of the right parts. Missing side panels and possible a few small parts (correct horn, petrol tap, etc.) but the majority of the the difficult to find Clymner parts are there which (in my view) makes it very restorable and at a cost simialar to restoring most other big twins.

So, what a Clymer worth ? who knows. The only restored one I know of that has had an offer was for over £20,000 and this was refused.

You can argue that he was nuts but bikes like this are both an investment bike and a bike to ride. If you look at the price of campariable bikes, Rocket Goldstars, Pre Unit Bonnies, Velo Thruxtons etc. they are all in this price range. A very good KX possible more.

As a motorcyclist you may very much regret the intrusion of the "investment biker" into the classic bike scene but, it has happened and will continue to happen and will drive up the prices asked and being payed.

So is 10,000 / 15,00 Aus Dollars a good price, for a bike no for and investment it's better than the bank

Jassie,
It seems to have vanished, will have to wait for it to surface again, it was on ebay au with a start bid of $6500. I doubt anybody would have bid on it but you never know. We have a lot of members who troll through ebay and bike sales out here so if it raises it's head again somebody will spot it
