Nothing wrong with a bitser and there is a lot of very well done ones out there as per Simons examnples , it just becomes a problem when people try selling them claiming they are something they obviously are not.

I went back over Taper's postings (couldn't find all of them, the Message Search option is pretty rubbish, Note to Hosts!) and it looks like he bought a "1965 350" with those numbers that turned out to have a sick engine, major bottom end problems after he rode it just 40 miles. He doesn't seem to have posted since early 2013 if I've got it right? REgards, Mark

Exactly Norm, and the bike that started this post, is certainly a very nice looking Bullet, One that I would not mind owning myself, but as you say, I would not like to buy it under the pretence that it was a 1969 Bullet, then finding it was comparatively modern. That would really annoy me, and the seller also states (if you hunt around)

TRADE SALES:

Any bike sold under Trade Sale terms, fall under the following policies:

- Any Trade Sale bike is sold strictly as spares only and they are not for road use.

- All Trade Sale bikes must be collected by alternative transport and are not to be ridden away.

- No warranty is implied or offered.

- Prices are non negotiable.

SO if you did buy it, then you are only left with the argument of misrepresentation, or goods not as described.

I suggest they know it's a bitsa, and don't want it returned. That reeks of deceit in my books.

Anyway, we live and hopefully learn!

Just echoing the last post Mark, If this is Taper's old bike, with dodgy bottom end, it might explain the conditions in the rules above, which would conveniently rule out a test ride!

Take it home, sick engine, no returns. Then the arguments begin.

NOT A WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS!

Ha actually the bike you posted was a fairly genuine example of a 1951 Bullet. Front mudguard was an Indian one but fame and engine numbers were original . It arrived in New Zealand in Februay 1951 so must have been an early model for the year. Sold it six months or more back. No the Bitsa whilst painted in the same Toyota Starlet metallic blue has a black frame and is a far more cobbled together thing. A whole heap quicker but!
