I'm sure you'll love the XBR Alan, I used to have a Yamaha SRX600. Super machines, sound like Brit singles, handle well, relatively light, lots of midrange punch, lots of fun.

Thanks Adrian---- I'd selected the wrong option in Tinypics, hadn't I ??........ I've SORNed it for now as my Insurance policy is due for renewal in August and I'll use the time to do some up-grades...I'll post some photos when it's complete and back on the road........ Meanwhile here's a 500 single crank that revs to 5,000 without snapping >>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Crank-Cranksh ... 3a9fc28930

PS}---- I forgot to say that I'm keeping our host's link on my desktop as I quite often use accessories from their catalog on my non-Enfield machines...

Alan i've got an XBR as well as my 2009 EFI.The XBR is a lot sportier than the RE but i love them both equally but for very different reasons.

I owned an XBR in the late 80s. Honda reliability and finish but it lacked the character of the SR500 I had before. I rode it down to Biarritz and it was the most uncomfortable bike I have ever owned. I notice they are getting pretty pricey now. Like all singles it was a great back road scratcher. Some toe-rag stole it before we really bonded.

Yes Rusty not the most comfortable long distance tourer .I've had 3 in the last few years after lusting after them when they first came out in the mid 80s.Dealers tend to ask top dollar-£4K but they can be picked up for a quarter of that privately.
