I'm not defending the seller, but as the registration document states manufacture as 1965, I assume a buyer will get a tidy looking motor, newish easy to look after engine, a black & white C registration and be free from MOT and road tax. If it wasn't so expensive I might be tempted!

Just zoomed in on one of the ebay pictures, they have got an older style crankcase with the pressure relief valve where the rocker oil feed screws in, so there's at least one "old" part in there!

It would seem to me the DVLA have made a mistake by using the date of manufacture of the vehicle this plate was originally fitted on and not updating it when it was transferred to this. It will still be subject to tax and MOT as it is the date of registration that matters, in this case 2004. As such it should also have a yellow/black registration number which will somewhat spoil the appearance. Shame because it actually looks a decent bike.

IF, & I do say IF, it has a Historic vehicle V5 then it will be MOT exempt & Historic nil tax

Midge, nothing to stop you buying or transferring a number from an older vehicle to use on a newer vehicle. Just can't do it the other way round to make it look younger. The laws will apply to when the vehicle was first registered, not when the plate was first used. This is what I suspect has happened in this case, unless it is a genuine 1965 frame at least, regardless of the age of the rest of the components.

Wonder if many other similar bikes have the same numbers !

And where is the engine number stamped? can't see it in the pics and I think it should have an EI number as well
