Brought to the South Lancs REOC meeting last night was this mystery tool, found amongst a lot of other tools in a job lot. Much discussion about it but nobody really knew. Can anybody help please?

Also brought up was the position of the rear footpegs on the new 650 Interceptor. I've not tried it but they seem a bit high up at the back according to some. Has anyone else got experience of one of these with a pillion?

Also: One bike's been stolen (not an RE) and then found by the police. It was in what should have been an extremely secure location.... so the lesson seems to be to leave it somewhere safe AND take other precautions as well. And mount an armed guard.... ok I'll stop

I don`t know about the pushing tool. I once chained the Bullet to a gate, they stole the gate.

This is naggingly familiar. Is it a tool associated with the pyrotenax mineral filled cable system? I seem to remember soething like this when l was a young sparks! REgards, Mark

It is indeed a Pyrotenax crimping tool. Sure you could turn it into something useful.

Mind you I have a multi-purpose crimping tool which cost me £64. (It is VERY handy for wiring though.)

I KNEW I'd seen one of those tools before but just couldn't place it. Got in now though! In my youth I worked for a builder and we converted an old factory to an oil products production facility (anyone remember "CARBUROL")?. The laboratory had some fire proof electrics using copper sheathed cable. What no-one told us was that whoever wired up the fire alarm system ran the cables horizontally along the walls, above the door level. I was assisting a joiner and we were carrying out "second fix" joinery. As part of that, fire exit signs were needed over the doors. As he drilled into the wall, the drill bit went into the cable. The resulting explosion blew the end of the drill off and blew him ten feet backwards off his step ladder! I was there when the cables were being repaired and that's when I saw one of those tools being used. Sad to say it was 44 years ago!
