My old 612 is ready for duty after doing many upgrades / mods - just wheeled it out of the garage shame the damp cold air made everything look so dull.

Roll on Spring so I can put some miles on it.

I like that Andy, it's given me some ideas for my BH project when I get there, especially on the rearsets. Is that a Hitchcocks kit or your own work? Happy Christmas and hope you have some great rides ahead!

its a smitsonian kit, had the same on mine but with a 4 speed.







never found it that good, the position of the foodpegs where set to wide and the selector tip was to far away.

as seen on the 5 speed its even worse.

at least on mine the smitsonian kit was very flimsy and badly disignd.

pretty much everything from the kit broke over time.

It was a Watssonian conversion and as Mauri says not that brilliant. Nothing however has broke. I used to get along OK with the 4 speed change, and the linkage I have made for the 5 speed seems OK just pottering around the private road at the back of my place, proof of the pudding will of course be in the riding. The battery cover is Hitchcocks with a bit taken out to clear the big K&N filter. The 612cc logos are of my own design. Worst part of the Watsonian conversion is the gear lever, teh pivot has way too much clearance, I managed to omprove things by machining up a coiuple of phosper bronze bushes - dependant on how it rides I may well look to converting to needle or ball bearings which will have no slop in them. Gotta get some miles on it, so as I say roll on spring 2019. A Kawaski advert from the 70's used ot say "let the good times roll" - lets hope they do.

Thanks Andy for that. Your comments prompted me to look at the Hitchcocks Catalogue kit. Theirs is made up using the Redditch Continental GT levers, I have some of these in the spares box, I may be able to do the same thing. I have got a 5 speed box now but need the parts to convert to right side change and also the correct clutch. And yes, roll on the good weather!
